Patent Data Privacy & Security
How patentreply.ai protects your confidential patent prosecution data — office actions, patent claims, prior art, and claim amendments — with encryption, access controls, and compliance standards.
Last updated: February 8, 2026
We understand that patent prosecution data — including office actions, patent claims, prior art references, and claim amendment strategies — is highly sensitive and often protected by attorney-client privilege. Here's how patentreply.ai protects your confidential patent information.
Patent Data Security
Your patent prosecution data is protected with:
- Encryption in transit — All patent documents transmitted between your browser and our servers use TLS encryption
- Encryption at rest — Stored patent data is encrypted using industry-standard AES-256 encryption
- Access controls — Only you (and anyone you explicitly share with) can access your patent analyses
- Regular security audits — Our infrastructure undergoes regular security reviews and penetration testing
Data Retention
Your patent analysis data:
- Remains accessible to you indefinitely — patent analyses don't expire
- Can be deleted at any time from your dashboard by removing individual analyses
- Is automatically backed up to prevent data loss
- Is never shared with third parties without your explicit consent
AI Model Usage
When your patent documents are processed by AI models:
- Patent document content is sent to AI providers only for the purpose of generating your office action analysis
- AI providers do not retain or train on your patent data
- Each patent analysis request is processed independently and not linked to other users' data
Deleting Your Patent Data
You have full control over your patent prosecution data:
- Delete individual analyses — Click the delete icon on any patent analysis card in your dashboard
- Delete chat history — Use the Clear/Clear All buttons in Chat with Documents
- Delete your account — Contact support to request complete account deletion, including all patent analyses, chat history, and personal information
Compliance
patentreply.ai maintains security practices aligned with:
- SOC 2 Type II standards
- Industry best practices for handling confidential legal and patent prosecution information
- Data protection regulations applicable to patent attorneys and agents
