When you sign up and log in for the first time, your dashboard includes a sample analysis — a pre-loaded patent office action analysis that lets you explore the platform without using credits. Use it to familiarize yourself with the document workspace, split view, AI chat, claim editor, and keyboard shortcuts before analyzing your own cases.
What Is the Sample Analysis?
The sample analysis is a real patent office action analysis (typically a non-final rejection with prior art citations) that appears on your dashboard alongside any analyses you create. It is marked with a Sample badge and is read-only — you cannot delete it or modify the underlying data. It is designed so you can:
- Browse the document sidebar and see how analyses, office actions, prior art, and workspace tools are organized
- Try split view to compare documents side by side
- Use Chat with Documents to ask questions about the analysis
- Open the Claim Editor to see how amendments are drafted with track changes
- Test keyboard shortcuts without affecting real work
The Welcome Dialog
The first time you open the sample analysis, a Welcome dialog appears. It introduces the platform and offers two options:
- Take a Guided Tour — Launches an interactive 9-step tour that highlights key features and explains each area
- Explore on My Own — Dismisses the dialog so you can browse freely; you can always restart the tour from the sample analysis banner
The Guided Tour
The guided tour walks you through the Strategy Analysis View step by step:
- Document Sidebar — Where to find all documents organized by category (Overview, Analysis, Office Action, Prior Art, Application, Workspace)
- Analysis Documents — AI-generated rejection analyses (§101, §102, §103, §112) and the response strategy
- Source Documents — The original office action and patent application
- Split View — How to view two documents side by side (the tour enables it for you)
- Resizable Panels — How to drag the divider to adjust pane sizes
- Chat with Documents — Using AI chat and @mentions to target specific documents
- Claim Editor — Drafting claim amendments with track changes and AI feedback
- Collapse Sidebar — Gaining more reading space by collapsing the sidebar
- Keyboard Shortcuts — Quick reference for
Ctrl/Cmd + K,Ctrl/Cmd + \,/, and more
Each step highlights the relevant part of the interface. You can move forward and backward, skip steps, or close the tour at any time.
