Split View — Compare Patent Claims, Prior Art & Office Actions Side by Side
View patent office actions, prior art references, and patent claims side-by-side to compare examiner rejections against your response strategy and claim amendments.
Last updated: February 8, 2026
Split View Mode lets you view two patent prosecution documents simultaneously, making it easy to compare your response strategy against the patent office action, review patent claims alongside prior art references, or verify specification support for claim amendments.
Enabling Split View
Click the Split View toggle button in the top-right area of the Strategy Analysis View. The screen divides into two resizable panes.
Automatic Document Routing
When split view is active, the system intelligently routes patent documents to the appropriate pane based on their type:
Left Pane (Analysis/Strategy)
- Executive Summary
- Office Action Response Strategy
- §102 anticipation, §103 obviousness, §101 eligibility, §112 disclosure analyses
- Chat with Documents
Right Pane (Source/Reference)
- Patent Office Action
- Patent Application (specification)
- Prior Art References
- Patent Claims (Clean and Redline)
- Application Prosecution History
This default routing keeps your analysis work on the left while source patent documents are on the right — a natural workflow for comparing response recommendations against the office action and prior art.

Manual Pane Assignment
Override the automatic routing when needed:
- Shift + Click a document in the sidebar to force it into the left pane
- Alt/Option + Click to force it into the right pane
Resizing Panes
Drag the vertical divider between the two panes to adjust their relative widths. The system remembers your preferred layout and restores it when you return to the analysis.
Pro Tip: A common patent prosecution workflow is to keep the Response Strategy in the left pane and switch between the Patent Office Action, Claims, and Prior Art in the right pane. This lets you follow strategy recommendations while verifying them against the examiner's rejections and cited references.
Pane State Persistence
Your split view configuration is saved automatically:
- Which patent documents are open in each pane
- The relative width of each pane
- Whether split view is enabled or disabled
When you return to the same patent analysis later, the layout is restored exactly as you left it.
Returning to Single View
Click the Split View toggle again to return to single-document view. The system keeps track of both pane states, so if you re-enable split view, your previous layout returns.
