Two steps
Connect PatentReply
Two steps in the AI you already use: add the connector, then approve the sign-in. After that, give it an application number; the first compile takes a few minutes, and every matter you compile stays in your record, in every later conversation and in any AI client you connect.
Step 1
Add the connector
Server URL
- In claude.ai (web or desktop), open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector and paste the server URL above.
- In a new chat, open the + menu and enable PatentReply under Connectors.
Step 2
Approve the sign-in
A PatentReply window opens. Approve it once; that is the whole installation. No account yet? It is created right there: free plan, one new public matter a month, no card required.
Paste this into your AI and let it set itself up
Leave it blank and your AI will ask after it connects. The first compile takes a few minutes and uses one new matter from your monthly allowance.
Connect this chat to PatentReply, the MCP server for U.S. patent prosecution. Server URL: https://mcp.patentreply.ai/mcp/v2 Connection: Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in First, check whether PatentReply is already connected. - If it is connected, verify the connection with a harmless PatentReply identity or status call and continue below. - If this client allows you to add remote MCP servers, add the server and launch its OAuth sign-in flow. Do not ask me to provide credentials in the chat. - If installation requires action by me or a workspace administrator, give me the exact instructions for this client. Do not invent menu names or provide generic MCP instructions. Then stop and wait for me to confirm that the connection is ready. - If this client does not support custom remote MCP servers, tell me clearly. Once the connection is verified, ask me for the U.S. patent application number I want to work on. Then use PatentReply's supplied workflow or skill, if available, to open and compile (or update the existing compilation of) that application. Compilation takes a few minutes while PatentReply retrieves and OCRs documents. Continue waiting or checking status as directed by PatentReply; do not characterize the server as unresponsive unless it returns a terminal error. When compilation is complete, give me a concise orientation covering: 1. The application and its current prosecution posture. 2. The latest significant prosecution event. 3. The current claims and their status. 4. Any outstanding Office Action, including its principal rejections or objections. 5. The response deadline, if reliably established by the record. 6. Missing documents, incomplete references, integrity warnings, or other limitations. 7. The next decisions an attorney likely needs to make. Clearly distinguish record facts from your own inferences. Do not begin drafting a response or changing the response strategy unless I ask.
The open-in links start a new chat with the prompt filled in (ChatGPT submits it; Claude waits for you to send). They cannot add the connector themselves; the prompt does that, or tells you exactly what to click.
First prompts to try
- “Compile application [your application number] and get me oriented.”
- “What is the posture of this matter?”
- “Show me where the examiner’s lead reference allegedly discloses claim 1.”
The work happens in your AI. Filings need your approval on patentreply.ai, signed in as you.
Trouble connecting? The sign-in window requires third-party cookies for patentreply.ai; if it fails, retry from a regular (non-incognito) window, or contact [email protected].
